I might be a day (fashionably) late but the National Theatre has announced its next chapter and it’s looking v exciting indeed! Under the new direction of Indhu Rubasingham, this first programme is, in the words of NT, ‘about heritage and renewal, inspired by our rich past and shaking up our future. Boldly disrupted classics will collide with contemporary voices, defining the modern mainstream and offering audiences a rich range of experiences.’
The season will also put a spotlight on new work (we love to hear it) with a strong commitment to nurturing and platforming fresh stories that reflect the world we live in today, with artists like Stormzy collaborating with the NT on a brand new production! Pretty cool.
Making their NT debuts are a whole bunch of big names including Nicola Coughlan, Monica Barbaro, Éanna Hardwicke, Paul Mescal, Letitia Wright and Aidan Turner, with legends such as Lesley Manville, Clare Perkins, James McArdle (one of my faves) and Siobhán McSweeney returning to the NT.
Kicking off the season is a new adaptation by Nima Taleghani of Euripides’s BACCHAE, running from 13th September – 1st November 2025. Tickets available from Thursday 15th May – let’s get booking!
Photos are not my own but the masterpiece collage is by yours truly.
